Alert: Guidelines by SBI, HDFC, ICICI, and other banks for depositing Rs.2000 notes

As per RBI Guideline, The Last Date of Exchange / Deposit of Rs.2000 rupee banknotes is September 30, 2023, and this withdrawal Process began on 23 May 2023. Every Bank has different guidelines for the Deposit/exchange of Rs.2000 Notes which we will discuss in-depth in this blog.

Guidelines for different banks are as follows

State Bank of India –  SBI  informed that the Customers who are coming for the exchange of Rs. 2000/- notes will not be required to show any Identity Proof or fill up any form/Slip up to the Limit of 20,000 at once in SBI Branch.

In Punjab National Bank (PNB)-   Just like all other banks, Punjab national bank has also clarified that it will not ask for any ID proof for the exchange of 2000/- rupee notes subject to a maximum limit of 20,000/- in a day

HDFC Bank – HDFC has informed their customers that they can deposit n number of 2000 banknotes in their bank account, Until 30 September 2023. HDFC also informed that the general public can exchange a maximum of Rs. 20,000/- in a day

Canara Bank – It has announced a waiver on charges related to cash remittance for deposits of Rs. 2000 notes

ICICI Bank –   ICICI Bank informed their customer that they can deposit Rs.2000 banknotes in any branch. ICICI Bank also provides a service for senior citizens to make a deposit using a doorstep service. It was also informed that no cash handling charges will be levied.

As a responsible citizen of the country, It would be wise to follow RBI Guidelines and deposit or exchange Rs.2000 notes by 30 September 2023.
